Earlier in the week I received a link to a news story on post-Fukushima insect mutations along with a one-word salutation: “MOTHRA!” Much to my horror, from the article it appears that the sender’s exclamation was warranted. Mothra is real and, as expected, lives in Japan.
Behold, the evidence. First, I present to you a still from the 1964 film classic Mothra vs. Godzilla (which I always thought was sort of an unfair fight, but now that I know that Mothra is real, I may have to reevaluate):
Now I present to you the photo in the news story, which the reporter refers to as a “mutated butterly”:
It’s uncanny and totally creepy and has me very concerned about any nuclear power plants ever going in the jungle or swamp ever. I prefer watching King Kong and Godzilla on my television screen only, thankyouverymuch.
